RAF Coningsby RAF Coningsby is one of two RAF Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) Stations which protect UK airspace (RAF Lossiemouth is the other).
RAF Coningsby is home to two frontline, combat-ready Squadrons and is the training station for Typhoon pilots.
RAF Coningsby is the RAF’s Southern Typhoon MOB (Main Operating Base) and home to the historic aircraft of the famous Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
Much of the history of the RAF in the last 70 years can be seen and heard in the skies over Coningsby and indeed the beautiful Tattershall Lakes Country Park too. A true spectacle to view operational aircraft at low altitude performing sorties and conducting evasive manoeuvres in the Lincolnshire skies directly above Tattershall Lakes. A unique selling point and one of the main local attractions. Tattershall Lakes is extremely popular with military aviation enthusiasts, affectionately named "spotters".
Built just before World War Two, RAF Coningsby became the home of 617 Squadron (known as the Dambuster's) during the second half of the war. Fascinating and educational, RAF Coningsby is a great day out for all.
A unique partnership between the Royal Air Force and Lincolnshire County Council also offers a gateway to the home of the BBMF (Battle of Britain Memorial Flight) at RAF Coningsby.
You will be able to see the Flight’s historic aircraft at close quarters, such as;
Lancaster PA474

Douglas Dakota ZA947 T
This came into service in 1942 with the United States Army Air Corps. It transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force before doing tours in Europe until 1971. It came to the BBMF in 1993.
RAF BBMF’s six spitfires, two hurricanes, and two chipmunks P7350 is the oldest airworthy Spitfire in the world.
A Mk V, a Mk II, a Mk IX, and two Mk XIX Spitfires also join her. The two hurricanes are Mk IIc.
